Dhaka: A court here today granted four days of remand to former Gafargaon municipality mayor Kaiser Ahmed and Shramik League’s Dhaka Cantonment Thana unit president Khairul Khan Juwel in a case lodged under the anti-terrorism act. Police produced the duo before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court and sought seven days of remand. Metropolitan Magistrate Juwel Rana, after hearing the prosecution, granted four days of remand for both of them.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the case alleges that the arrestees, along with their accomplices, gathered near Jabbar Town in the Gulshan area on April 22 to lead an anti-government procession. They, along with the activists of the banned Chhatra League and Awami League, chanted slogans against the government.

A case was filed with Gulshan Thana in this connection under the anti-terrorism act that night.
