Patiya: Two individuals lost their lives in separate road accidents this afternoon in the Jalua Dighirpar and Goirla areas under the Patiya upazila here.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sub-Inspector Wasim of the Patiya Police Station reported that the first incident took place around 1:30 pm in the Jalua Dighirpar area. A chair coach of Purabi Paribahan collided head-on with a pickup van carrying tiles, resulting in the death of the pickup driver, Abdul Quader, 42, who died on the spot. Abdul Quader was a resident of Noakhali and the son of Mohammad Kibria. Following the accident, police seized the bus involved in the crash.
The second accident occurred earlier at around 1:00 pm in the Tek area of Goirla. A 60-year-old farmer, Sher Mohammad, was killed after being struck by a lagoon while crossing the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway on his way to the field. Sher Mohammad was the son of the late Abdul Hamid and a resident of the locality. Eyewitnesses stated that he died instantly upon impact.
Officer-in-Charge Jasim Uddin of the Patiya Crossing Highway Police Station confirmed that police responded promptly to both incidents, recovered the bodies, and brought them to the station. He also mentioned that the vehicle involved in the Jalua Dighirpar accident has been seized as part of the ongoing investigation.
