Two deer killed after being hit by a vehicle

Two deer have been found dead at Pathari Sanischare of Morang district on Monday.

The fawn and pregnant deer died after a vehicle hit them at Pathari Shanischare municipality-10 along the East-West highway. The deer were in protection of Pashupati Community Forest for the past 11 months, said Chief of Sub-Division Forest Office, Pathari Shanischare, Diwas Kumar Chaudhary.

Further investigation into the incident was underway, he added. Six deer were killed in five different incidents that occurred within a month. Of them, five died in road accidents and one due to poaching.

Over speeding vehicles at forest area, lack of awareness to drivers regarding wildlife are some f the reasons behind increasing number of wildlife-related incidents, said Chief of Area Police office, Pathari, Yogendra Singh Khadka.
