Two dead in Mymensingh road crash

Two people were killed and another person was injured in a collision between a truck and an autorickshaw on the Mymensingh-Sherpur road in the district Tuesday.

 

The deceased—passenger Sohag Mandal and autorickshaw driver Hafizul Islam, were residents of Sadar and Imadpur unions respectively of Phulpur upazila of the district.

 

Abul Khayer, officer-in-charge of Tarakanda police station, said the accident happened around 11am when the speeding truck rammed into the autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction in Khamar Bazar area, leaving the trio critically injured.

They were rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where the duo succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment, he said.

 

The bodies were kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC added.
