Two-Day ‘Election Journalism Training’ Kicks Off in Barishal

Barishal: The two-day ‘Election Journalism Training’ for local journalists commenced today with the objective of enhancing the professional skills of journalists in preparation for the upcoming general elections. Organized by the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB), the training is being held at the Barishal Press Club meeting room and brings together 50 journalists from the district.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Deputy Editor of the daily ‘Amar Desh’ Sultan Mahmud inaugurated the event as the chief guest at 10 am. In his address, Sultan Mahmud highlighted that elections are not merely a voting process but a crucial chapter that determines the future of a democratic state. He emphasized the critical role journalists play during elections, bearing one of the most sensitive and important responsibilities.

Sultan Mahmud further stressed the necessity for journalists to possess a clear understanding of reporting details, contemporary contexts, election-related laws and policies, as well as physical and digital security. The workshop was presided over by PIB Coordinator Zilhaj Uddin Nipun, with special guests including Barisal Press Club Acting President Humayun Kabir, Barisal District Journalists Union General Secretary Md Hafizur Rahman Hira, and Barisal Reporters Unity General Secretary Khalid Saifullah. The programme was moderated by Barisal District Journalists Union President Azad Alauddin.
