Chattogram: Two policemen were injured in a clash between traffic police and CNG-run auto-rickshaw drivers in Chattogram city. The altercation occurred due to CNG drivers operating in the opposite direction at Moijjartek Fossil Fuel Station under Karnaphuli upazila around 11 am on Sunday. Following the incident, Karnaphuli Police Station conducted a raid in the area, arresting 14 CNG drivers and confiscating several CNG-run three-wheelers.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the injured policemen are Sergeant Imtiaz Shahriar and Constable Salauddin, who were later rescued and admitted to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH). Sergeant Imtiaz reported that they were attacked by a group of individuals after a CNG-run vehicle approached from the opposite direction and attempted to stop them. Meanwhile, the CNG drivers claimed they were unjustly attacked.
Abu Sayeed Baker, the in-charge of the Moijjartek Traffic Police, stated that the collision was due to vehicles moving in opposite directions. He confirmed that the injured policemen are receiving treatment at CMCH. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Jahedul Islam of Karnaphuli Police Station mentioned that the arrested individuals are under investigation and that legal action is being pursued against them.
