Two Chicken Traders Killed in Pickup-Rickshaw Van Collision in Motijheel

Motijheel: Two chicken traders were killed in a collision between a pickup van and a chicken-laden rickshaw van in front of Bangabhaban in Motijheel in the capital early today. The accident occurred at around 3:45 am in the area.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased were identified as Mohammad Ripon, 45, son of Sakhawat Hossain from Nabinagar police station area of Sherpur district, and Mohammad Sultan Mia, 50, son of Jamshed Ali of Bepari Bari in Sherpur Sadar. Mohammad Shahin, who brought the victims to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), stated that the chicken-laden rickshaw van was attempting a U-turn in front of Bangabhaban when it was struck by a speeding pickup van.



The collision left the two traders critically injured. They were promptly rescued and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared both of them dead. Inspector in-charge of the DMCH Police Camp, Mohammad Farooq, confirmed the incident and mentioned that the bodies have been kept at the morgue of the hospital’s emergency department. He further stated that the concerned police station has been informed for further legal action.
