Two Arrested with Foreign-Made Firearms in Separate RAB Operations

Dhaka: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested two suspected criminals and recovered foreign-made firearms from their possession during separate operations in Khulna and Jashore districts.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a press release from RAB-6 detailed that a team of the elite force conducted a special operation around 12:50 pm on Sunday in Khulna city's Rayermohol area. During this operation, they arrested Md. Robiul Islam, 36, son of the late Sheikh Lal Mia. The team also recovered a foreign-made revolver from his possession. Robiul is identified as an active member of the Tiger Group and has 16 cases filed against him in different police stations across the Khulna Metropolitan area, which include charges under the Arms Act, narcotics offences, attempted murder, and theft.

A case under the Arms Act is being prepared against Robiul, and the accused, along with the recovered firearm, will be handed over to Harintana Police Station after completing legal formalities.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation, RAB-6 arrested another suspected criminal, Shahadat Hossain, who was found with a foreign-made pistol in Jashore. This arrest occurred around 8:30 pm on Saturday during a raid at a house on Barek Road in the Chopdarpara area of Shankarpur in Jashore town.

The RAB press release emphasized that their regular drives against armed criminals, drug traffickers, and individuals accused in sensational criminal cases would continue.
