Jashore: Police arrested two individuals along with a foreign-made pistol, two magazines, and two bullets from a covered van in the Chanchra area under Sadar upazila of the district last night. The arrestees were identified as Md Farhad Hossain, 32, and Shakib Hossain, 19, both residents of Bhaberber village in Sharsha upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, acting on a tip-off, a team of Detective Branch (DB) police intercepted a covered van near the BADC building in the Chanchra area on the Jashore-Benapole highway around 10:30 pm. "During the search, police recovered one foreign-made pistol, two magazines, and two bullets from the vehicle and arrested the duo on the spot," said Detective Branch Officer-in-Charge (OC) Manjurul Haque.
A case was filed with Jashore Kotwali Police Station in this connection. The arrested individuals were produced before the court and subsequently sent to jail, the OC added.
