Rangpur: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 apprehended two individuals suspected of drug trafficking, seizing 52.5 kilograms of ganja from the Mahiganj Satmatha area under Mahiganj Metropolitan Police Station in the city today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrests followed a tip-off that prompted a RAB-13’s Sadar Company team to establish a checkpoint on the road. During their operation, they searched a passenger bus, leading to the discovery of the smuggled ganja. The bus was seized, and two individuals were arrested at the scene at 1:45 pm, as confirmed by a press release.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Md Masum alias Masud, 24, from village Hingan Roy under Sadar Police Station, and bus driver Shree Shuvo Kumar Saha, 35, from village Debipur under Nageshwari Police Station of Kurigram district. The RAB-13 handed over both the suspects and the confiscated items, including the vehicle, to the Mahiganj Metropolitan Police Station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police, the press release revealed.
