Rangpur:A joint operational team from SRB-13 (Rangpur) and the 51 BGB Battalion arrested two men in possession of 50 kilograms of black stone in the Purbo Bothlapara area of the city on Monday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the individuals detained were Md Enamul Hossain, 60, from Purbo Bothlapara under Kotwali Police Station, and Md Mojibor Rahman, 57, from Karul Gutla area under Tajhat Police Station in Rangpur metropolitan area.
The arrest followed a tip-off that prompted a joint raid by the Headquarters Company of SRB-13 (Rangpur) and the 51 BGB Battalion. The operation took place around 2:30 am on Monday at a house in Purbo Bothlapara, where the black stones were found and the arrests were made.
Subsequently, a case was filed against the two men under the Special Powers Act, 1974. The seized stones and the arrested individuals have been handed over to Rangpur Kotwali Police Station for further legal proceedings.
