Dhaka: The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) in separate operations has apprehended two alleged drug traders, known as ‘Heroin Queen’ and ‘Yaba King’, along with a substantial cache of drugs.

According to United News of Bangladesh, a team from the Uttara Circle of Dhaka Metro North conducted a raid in Demra, Dhaka around 5:00pm on Sunday, leading to the arrest of Hosne Ara Begum, 38, from a four-storey building in Purbo Dogair.

Hosne Ara, the wife of Abu Taher, is from Chargaon village in Srinagar upazila of Munshiganj. Law enforcement officials recovered 400 grams of heroin and 500 Yaba tablets from her possession. Following information obtained during her initial interrogation, a subsequent operation was carried out in the Chanpara Bottola area under Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj.

Md Idris, 45, was detained from a third-floor flat in a building owned by Sagar Ahmed. He is a resident of Douyapara village in Daudkandi upazila of Cumilla. During the operation, officials confiscated 20,000 Yaba tablets from his possession.

The operations were led by DNC Uttara Circle Inspector Dewan Mohammad Zillur Rahman, as stated by Deputy Director Shamim Ahmed. The DNC revealed that Hosne Ara sourced heroin from the Benapole border in Jashore and distributed it to various locations, including Dayaganj in Old Dhaka. Idris allegedly trafficked Yaba across the Cumilla border, supplying it to areas in Narayanganj’s Chanpara and parts of Dhaka. Payments for the drugs were reportedly conducted through hundi channels, as per the DNC.
