Kishoreganj: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted a raid today in the Newtown Sirir Mour area under Bhairab Pourashava, arresting two individuals alleged to be drug dealers. The operation resulted in the seizure of 211 kilograms of hemp, valued at approximately Taka 42.29 lakh.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a RAB press release signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Md. Abdul Hye Chowdhury, who is the commander of Bhairab RAB-14 camp, confirmed that a team of the elite force conducted the operation leading to the arrest of the suspects. The arrested individuals were identified as Md. Bashir Mia, aged 33, from Mirashani Moddopara area of Bijoynagar upazila, and Md. Shahin, aged 30, from Sarail upazila, both of whom are from Brahmanbaria district.
The RAB team also confiscated two android mobile phones and a microbus, which were allegedly used in transporting the drugs, as per the release.
ASP Abdul Hye Chowdhury stated, “A case has been filed with Bhairab Thana in this connection and the activities of handing over the accused and the seized goods is under process.”
