Dhaka: Police have arrested two individuals accused of deceiving students by promising them IELTS exam question papers and answer sheets. The arrests were made in the Banani area of Dhaka, where the suspects allegedly collected money from several students.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the individuals, identified as Panna Poonam Howlader alias Keya, aged 26, and Md. Mamun Khan, aged 37, were apprehended during a police raid at the ‘Amazon Lily Lake View Residence’ hotel under Banani Police Station. The operation took place around 9:30 pm on Saturday. Authorities seized Tk 8.38 lakh and eight mobile phones from the suspects.
The investigation revealed that Md. Nadit Hasan Rocky, a victim of the scam, attended coaching at Queen Global Consultant and IELTS. The suspects reportedly contacted Rocky and other candidates through this organization, offering them IELTS exam question papers and answer sheets in exchange for money. Trusting their offer, Rocky agreed to pay Tk 180,000 but later discovered that the accused had extracted amounts ranging from Tk one to three lakh from each candidate. Consequently, a case has been filed regarding the incident.
