Two Arms Dealers Held with 150 Rounds of Foreign Bullets in Ctg

Chattogram: Members of Detective Branch (DB) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police in separate drives have apprehended two arms dealers in the district, seizing 150 rounds of foreign-made live pistol ammunition. Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Assistant Commissioner Aminur Rashid confirmed the arrests on Saturday. The suspects, identified as Md. Faisal Ahmed Rony, 40, and Aminul Haque Bappi, 39, were captured in the raids conducted in Khulshi and Chawkbazar areas from Friday afternoon to night.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrests were made based on a tip-off about illegal arms, with Rony being apprehended at a fast food shop in Wasa intersection of Khulshi police station. In the presence of locals, 139 rounds of foreign-made live pistol ammunition were found from the suspect.



After interrogation, Md. Faisal Ahmed Rony, the police arrested Aminul Haque Bappi from the Dampara area of Chawkbazar Police Station. Eleven more rounds of foreign-made live pistol bullets were recovered from Bappi. In total, 150 rounds of foreign-made live pistol bullets were seized from the two suspects. The suspects admitted to obtaining the bullets from sources in the Chattogram Hill Tracts for use in criminal activities in the city. Legal action is being taken against the arrested individuals.
