Twin sisters drowned while taking bath in a pond at Goalanda Upazila Parishad premises in Rajbari district on Saturday.
Swapan Kumar Majumdar, officer-in-charge of Goalanda Police Station, said the 12-year old girls -Tapur and Tupur, daughter of Abdul Goni, had been living with their maternal grandmother since their parents got divorced.
Both the girls were students of class III of Moonstar Collegiate School in Goalanda upazila.
Anna Begum, grandmother of the two girls , used to work as a domestic help in a number of houses.
urday afternoon, Tapur and Tupur went to the pond at Upazila Parishad Premises for taking bath and drowned there.
As the girls were not returning home after a long period of time, Anna Begum went to the pond and found them floating in the pond.
Later, they were taken to a local hospital where doctors declared them dead.
