Twelve More Patients Die from Measles and Measles-Like Symptoms in the Country

Dhaka: Twelve more patients have died in the country in the last 24 hours due to measles and measles-like symptoms, according to a press release sent from the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) here today. Of them, it stated, one had confirmed measles while 11 others had measles-like symptoms.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the number of suspected measles patients in the last 24 hours is 1,238, with a total of 45,498 suspected cases reported from March 15 to May 7. The number of confirmed measles patients in the last 24 hours is 286, contributing to a total of 6,208 confirmed cases in the same period. From March 15 to May 7, 31,912 patients have been admitted to hospitals with suspected measles, while 28,238 patients have recovered and been discharged.



One more patient has died of measles in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed measles deaths since March 15 to 57. In the same timeframe, eleven patients have died of suspected measles in the last 24 hours, contributing to a total of 279 deaths from suspected measles since March 15.



The highest number of suspected measles cases, 20,581, has been reported in Dhaka Division, with 4,177 confirmed measles cases reported in the same area.
