Melaka:Ayer Keroh Scholarship opportunities for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) are expanding significantly due to increased offerings from government and private entities. This development is driven by higher allocations and a growing awareness of the need for highly skilled workers in high-tech sectors.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Higher Education Minister Adam Adli Abdul Halim emphasized the importance of these developments in creating job opportunities and benefits for the community. He highlighted the need for a workforce with skills tailored to industry needs and announced plans to expand scholarship offers beyond existing institutions to include public universities.

Adam Adli noted that the demand for skilled workers in high-tech industries, such as data centers and semiconductors, is propelling the increase in scholarship offerings. He stressed the necessity of preparing a highly skilled and educated workforce to ensure that investments in the country benefit the broader community.

The inaugural 2026 Scholarship Day, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) in Melaka, provided students with a platform to explore various higher education sponsorships. The event featured 22 exhibitors from government agencies, corporate and private sectors, and embassies, offering scholarships for studies in countries like Japan, the United States, Hungary, and Russia. It attracted over 2,000 visitors, mainly Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) holders.

Adam Adli expressed hope for the continuation of the Scholarship Day on a larger scale in the future, suggesting universities and colleges as potential venues to diversify access and attract more participants.
