Dhaka:Bangladesh and Trkiye have reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations, particularly focusing on expanding trade, investment, and economic cooperation. This commitment was underscored at a reception celebrating the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Trkiye, hosted by Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ramis Sen, on Thursday evening.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the event was attended by numerous diplomats, government officials, political leaders, business representatives, and other invited guests. Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman served as the chief guest, extending warm greetings and congratulations to the government and people of Trkiye on behalf of Bangladesh.
During the reception, Minister Asaduzzaman acknowledged Trkiye's remarkable achievements in various sectors, including infrastructure, manufacturing, technological innovation, and economic development. He highlighted the historical and emotional connections between the people of Bangladesh and Trkiye, citing the inspiration drawn from Mustafa Kemal Atatrk's struggle for independence and sovereignty. The Minister also noted the historical solidarity shown by the people of Bengal during Trkiye's independence struggle, including contributions of gold and personal belongings.
Ambassador Ramis Sen expressed his appreciation for the longstanding friendship between the two countries and emphasized the importance of further strengthening bilateral cooperation. He acknowledged the close engagement between the nations through several high-level visits and diplomatic exchanges over the year. The Ambassador also referred to upcoming events, such as the Bangladesh-Trkiye Joint Economic Commission meeting scheduled for January 20-21, which aims to review bilateral economic relations and explore new opportunities for cooperation.
The anniversary of the Republic marks a significant milestone in Trkiye's modern history, with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan highlighting the importance of national unity and independence in his address.
