Dhaka: Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen has expressed keen interest in providing scholarships to Dhaka University (DU) students for higher education in Turkey. The envoy conveyed his interest to DU Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan during a meeting at the VC's office.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was attended by Dhaka University Treasurer Professor Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and Associate Professor at the Department of World Religions and Culture Dr Md Abdullah Al Mahmud. They explored various mutual interests, particularly the enhancement of existing joint cooperative education and research activities between Dhaka University and Turkish universities.
The discussions also covered the potential exchange of teachers, students, and researchers between DU and Turkish institutions. A significant part of the conversation was the reconstruction of the Central Mosque Complex at Dhaka University, with financial support from the Diyanet Foundation of Turkey.
Additionally, they deliberated on the development of Shaheed Dr Mohammad Murtoza Medical Center and various research laboratories at Dhaka University, with financial and technical aid from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency. The DU VC highlighted the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and Turkey and expressed hope for further strengthening these ties.
He sought the Turkish Ambassador's cooperation in implementing development projects, such as the reconstruction of the Central Mosque Complex and the Medical Center at Dhaka University. The Turkish Ambassador assured the authorities of Dhaka University of providing all possible assistance in these endeavors.
