Tangail: A cleanliness drive has begun in the district to ensure the quick removal of sacrificial animal wastes and maintain a clean town following Eid-ul-Azha. The programme was inaugurated this morning on the main road in the Babystand area of Tangail town by State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Salauddin Tuku emphasized the importance of responsibility in keeping the town clean. He stated that the programme aims to raise awareness among residents and encourage their participation in cleanliness initiatives. He expressed confidence that through collective efforts, Tangail can become a cleaner and more livable town.
Sultan Salauddin Tuku remarked that maintaining the town’s cleanliness is a shared responsibility. He noted that it is challenging for the municipality to clean the entire town quickly on its own. Nonetheless, he stressed that with cooperation from everyone, the town could be cleaned efficiently.
Following the inauguration, the cleanup operation proceeded from Babystand Madrasa Ground to Thana Mor and market areas along the major roads of the town. Over 50 leaders, activists, and supporters of the district Swechasebak Dal participated in the effort, utilizing brooms and various cleaning equipment to clear waste scattered across roads and surrounding areas.
The event was attended by former member secretary of district BNP Mahmudul Haque Sanu, acting member secretary of Jubo Dal Zahid Hossain Mala, member secretary of Swechasebak Dal Saleh Mohammad Shafi Ethen, general secretary of Matsyajibi Dal Mostafa Kamal, and other leaders of town and thana Swechasebak Dal. Organisers noted that sacrificial animal waste often causes public discomfort in different parts of the town after Eid-ul-Azha.
