Magura: A truck driver lost his life in a head-on collision involving a rice-laden truck and a passenger bus on the Magura-Dhaka highway early today. The tragic incident took place in the Belnagar area of the highway, claiming the life of Biplob Hossain, 35, who was a resident of Badpukuria village in Jhenaidah district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the collision occurred around 12:00 am when a truck traveling towards Rajbari collided with a Satkhira Line passenger bus that was coming from Dhaka. The impact of the collision left Biplob Hossain, the driver of the truck, with critical injuries.
Locals acted promptly, rushing Biplob Hossain to Magura 250-bed District Hospital. Despite the efforts to provide him with advanced medical treatment in Dhaka, he succumbed to his injuries on the way. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Magura Highway Police Station, Alamgir Hossain, confirmed the incident and mentioned that both vehicles involved in the collision have been seized. The bus driver, however, managed to flee the scene, OC added.
