Jashore: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Sujat Ali, a 50-year-old truck driver, for allegedly killing a petrol pump manager, Nahid Sardar, in Narail. The arrest took place at Sujat’s father-in-law’s residence in Darajhat village, Bagherpara upazila, Jashore.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Major Fazle Rabbi Prince, the Company Commander of RAB-6 Jashore Camp, confirmed the arrest. Sujat Ali, the son of the late Saidur Rahman from Peroli village in Narail Sadar upazila, is the prime suspect in the case. Sujat is accused of crushing Nahid Sardar under the wheels of his truck after a refusal to supply diesel led to a fatal confrontation.

The vehicle involved in the incident, a truck with the registration number Jashore-Ta-11-6040, was recovered by a joint operation conducted by Narail and Jashore DB Police, Benapole Port Police, and Navaron Highway Police. The truck was seized from Benapole Truck Terminal around noon. OC of Navaron Highway Police Station, Md. Mohsin Hossain, confirmed the truck’s seizure.

Major Fazle Rabbi Prince provided details of the incident, which occurred late Saturday night at approximately 2:15 am near the Tularampur railway bridge area on the Jashore-Narail highway. Earlier, Sujat Ali had a confrontation with Nahid Sardar at Tanveer Filling Station in Narail Sadar over the unavailability of diesel, which escalated into threats.

RAB disclosed that Nahid Sardar and his colleague, Jihad Molla, were returning home on a motorcycle after their shift ended at around 2:00 am. At the Tularampur railway bridge area, their motorcycle was deliberately hit from behind by Sujat’s truck, leading to Nahid’s death on the spot and critical injuries to Jihad Molla.

After the incident, Sujat Ali went into hiding. RAB-6, acting on a tip-off and utilizing information technology, tracked and arrested him in Bagherpara.
