Dhaka: Two people lost their lives, and four others sustained injuries when a truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh on Monday morning. The tragic accident took place at approximately 8:30 am near the Thakurbaria intersection on the Trishal-Balipara road.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the identities of the deceased have not yet been determined. Rezaul Karim, a sub-inspector of Trishal Police Station, reported that the Balipara-bound truck collided head-on with the passenger-filled auto-rickshaw that was heading towards Trishal, resulting in the immediate death of two passengers.
The injured individuals have been identified as the CNG driver, Faizul, 34, and three passengers: Rubel, 30, Hridoy, 22, and Nabil, 22. Locals at the scene swiftly rescued the injured and transported them to the Trishal Upazila Health Complex. Subsequently, due to the critical condition of Faizul and Rubel, they were referred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced medical treatment.
Police have successfully recovered the bodies and seized the truck involved in the accident. However, the truck driver managed to flee the scene immediately following the collision, as reported by the sub-inspector.
