Bogura: Three people, including a father and his young son, lost their lives in a tragic accident early this morning in Sariakandi upazila. The accident involved a sand-laden truck and a CNG-run autorickshaw, resulting in a devastating head-on collision. Two other members of the same family were also injured in this unfortunate incident.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the casualties have been identified as Bipul Chandra Das, aged 38, and his five-year-old son Biplob Chandra Das, both hailing from Kuthibari village in Shaghata Upazila. The autorickshaw driver, Shukur Ali, aged 40, from Sultanpur village in Shibganj Upazila, also perished in the crash. The injured include Bipul’s wife, Mamata Rani Das, aged 32, and their daughter, Rupa Moni Das, aged 12.
Zamirul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Sariakandi Police Station, reported that the accident took place around 7 am in the Fulbari Kathaltola area. The family was en route to Narchi village to celebrate the holy Durga Puja when their autorickshaw was struck by the oncoming truck. The impact left the vehicle severely damaged, and the autorickshaw driver died instantly.
Emergency services arrived promptly, with fire service personnel rescuing the injured and transporting them to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. Despite the efforts to save them, Bipul and his son succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The police have since seized the truck involved in the accident, although its driver and helper managed to escape the scene.
