Dhaka: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 has issued arrest warrants for 18 individuals, including former ministers Hasan Mahmud and Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury Nowfel, concerning the killing of six people, among them Chhatra Dal leader Wasim Akram, during the July Mass Uprising in Chattogram.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the prosecution submitted a formal charge on April 5 against 22 accused in the case. Out of these, four individuals, including former lawmaker ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, have already been apprehended and are currently in jail.
The tribunal’s decision came after it acknowledged the formal charge presented by the prosecution. Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury leads the second tribunal. Earlier, on April 2, the tribunal’s investigation agency filed its probe report, which listed three charges against the accused.
