Dhaka: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul today said that they are committed to hold the trial of the mass killing during July and August in 2024. ‘Holding trial of the mass killing is one of our commitments. The trial has begun. Inshaallah, we will get the verdict of the trial during tenure of the government of Dr Yunus Sir,’ he wrote in his verified Facebook account.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, there has been a demand in the society for making the trial visible. Dr Asif Nazrul emphasized that they made it visible eight months ago by reconstituting the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT). Following this, the investigation and prosecution offices have been reconstituted, and the probe teams have already completed investigations into some cases.
He further mentioned that the prosecution team has framed a formal charge in a case, and the tribunal has taken it into cognizance, formally starting the trial process. The hearing in the case against Sheikh Hasina, the main accused of crimes against humanity, will begin soon, as stated by Dr Asif Nazrul.
