Dhaka: The Khulna city unit of Jubo Dal today initiated a tree plantation programme in Wards 22, 29, and 31 as part of its ongoing environmental campaign. This campaign was launched in response to a call by Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was inaugurated by KDA Chairman and Khulna City BNP President Advocate S.M. Shafiqul Alam Mona, who served as the chief guest. The inauguration took place at Abu Hanif Madrasa in Notun Bazar under Ward No. 22 in the afternoon. Khulna Metropolitan Jubo Dal Convener Abdul Aziz Sumon and Member Secretary Robiul Islam Rubel were also present as special guests.
During the programme, participants planted a variety of saplings, including fruit-bearing, timber, and medicinal trees. The speakers at the event emphasized the importance of this initiative in maintaining ecological balance, combating the adverse effects of climate change, and contributing to the development of a greener, cleaner, and more livable Bangladesh.
They highlighted that Jubo Dal leaders and activists are undertaking environmental conservation and other social welfare activities under the guidance of Tarique Rahman. The tree plantation initiative was described as a long-term commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy environment for future generations.
The organisers pledged to continue such public welfare and environmentally friendly programmes in the future.
