Khulna: The divisional tree plantation campaign and tree fair commenced today in Khulna, inaugurated near the tennis ground of the Circuit House premises. This event marks a significant step towards promoting environmental conservation and sustainable development in the region.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the inauguration was graced by Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Firoz Sarker, who served as the chief guest. During his speech at the inaugural ceremony, Commissioner Sarker emphasized the importance of planting trees to achieve a green, vibrant, and sustainable Bangladesh. He highlighted the government's ongoing efforts to protect the environment and conserve biodiversity through afforestation projects on government lands.
The event was presided over by Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam, with notable contributions from special guests including Additional Police Commissioner Mohammad Rashidul Islam Khan, Conservator of Forests Imran Ahmed, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Anisuzzaman, and Nursery Owners' Association President Badrul Alam Royal. The welcome speech was delivered by Divisional Forest Officer of the Sundarbans West Forest Division, A. Z. M. Hasanur Rahman.
The fair, which will run for three weeks, features a total of 61 stalls. It attracted a diverse audience, including teachers, students from various educational institutions, and officials from different departments, all united in their support for the green revolution initiative.
