Dhaka: A court here today imposed a travel ban on former Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and his wife, Afrin Taposh, over allegations of corruption. Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zakir Hossain passed the order, allowing a plea submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Deputy Director of the ACC Md Monirul Islam filed the plea at the court. The case documents indicate that the anti-graft body is investigating allegations against Taposh regarding the accumulation of substantial illegal wealth through corrupt practices. The ACC requested the travel ban to prevent Taposh and his wife from leaving the country to evade justice, as detailed in the plea filed by the Deputy Director.
