A 21-year old youth was killed after being hit
by a running train as he was crossing the rail line in the capital’s airport
rail-gate area last night.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
“The accident took place last night but the identity of the youth so far
could not be unearthed,” said assistant sub-inspector (ASI)of Dhaka Railway
Airport police outpost Sunmoon Marma.
Quoting an eyewitness M Mehedi, police said he saw an unconscious youth was
lying on the street with critical head injury while passing the airport rail
gate area.
The pedestrian (Mehedi) rescued him and took him to Kurmitola General
Hospital at first. Later, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital
(DMCH) around 12.30 am where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
GRP police sources said the body has been kept at DMCH morgue for autopsy.
