Thanchi:Two individuals lost their lives and five sustained serious injuries when a tourist vehicle, commonly referred to as a 'Chander Gari', veered into a deep roadside ditch in the Thanchi upazila of Bandarban on Monday afternoon.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the accident took place around 3:45 pm on the Dimpahar-Tendumukh road, approximately 600 meters from the Tendumukh Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) checkpost.
Personnel from the Tendumukh BGB Camp, part of Bolipara Battalion (38 BGB) and led by commanding officer Lt Col Md Yasir Arafat Hossain, responded swiftly to the scene upon receiving notification about the incident. They conducted a rescue operation, during which they recovered two bodies from the vehicle wreckage and assisted five critically injured individuals.
The injured were transported to Alikadam Upazila Health Complex for medical treatment. In addition, the BGB has notified Thanchi Police Station to initiate the necessary legal procedures concerning the deceased. Lt Col Md Yasir Arafat Hossain stated that the appropriate legal and administrative actions regarding the accident are underway.
