Jaflong: A tourist died by drowning in the Piyain River at Jaflong today. The deceased was identified as Mahin Ahmed, 16, son of Jamil Ahmed from Sahidpara Village in the Bayezid Bostami area of Chattogram.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Acting Officer-in-Charge of Gowainghat police station, Sarkar Tofail Ahmed, confirmed the incident. Mahin had come to Jaflong with his family for a visit when the tragic incident occurred.
The police official stated that Mahin drowned around 1:00 pm while bathing in the Piyain River. After searching for more than an hour, local boatmen recovered his body, bringing a tragic end to what was intended to be a leisurely family outing.
