Dhaka: The Department of Primary Education has allocated Taka 5,86,55,000 for the transportation of textbooks at the school level. This allocation is part of the operating budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, specifically aimed at facilitating the distribution of free textbooks for the academic year 2026.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a recent letter highlighted that Taka 5,86,55,800 has been designated for this purpose. The upazila/thana education officers have been granted the authority to utilize these funds in line with government regulations. This funding is sourced from the Taka 10 crore allocated within the transportation expenditure section of the revenue budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, under institutional code 1240201 at the Head Office of the Department of Primary Education.
The expenditure officers are instructed to use IBS++ for spending the allocated funds, under the authorization of the Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO). It is mandatory that these funds are solely used for textbook transportation expenses for the 2026 academic year, and any deviation will hold the concerned officers personally accountable for irregular expenditures. Any unspent funds must be returned to the authorities by June 30, 2026, as stated in the letter.
