Dhaka: The Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Dhaka (West), has detected an alleged revenue evasion of around Tk 3.76 crore by J-Creation, an online-based e-commerce business selling Punjabi, Sherwani, and other ready-made garments. Acting on a tip-off and under the direction of the Commissioner of the Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Dhaka (West), a team conducted a surprise raid at J-Creation at Block-D, Road No. 25, House No. 42, Section-12, Mirpur in the capital on September 13.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the raid, the officials found evidence of VAT evasion. They seized the company's CPU and relevant documents through VAT Form-12.3 for further verification and examination, as stated in an NBR press release.
After scrutinising the company's sales records, the VAT authorities initially detected revenue evasion amounting to around Tk 3.76 crore. Further examination and verification of the seized documents are underway, and legal proceedings for filing a case will follow, according to the NBR.
