It is high time to invest in Bangladesh as the government is providing special facilities for investment, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said on Sunday addressing the representatives of Nordic countries.

Bangladesh now stands on a strong economy and development is now visible here, he said.

The minister made this remark at an event on โ€˜Foreign Direct Investment for Logistic Sectorโ€™ organised by the Nordic Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with Denmark, Norway, and Sweden embassies and the head of the delegation of the European Union at Hotel Westin in Dhaka.

Besides, Bangladesh will graduate from the status of the least developed country (LDC) in 2041 by achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in 2030, he added.

The minister said Bangladesh is a big market of about 17 crore people and 45 percent of the people have better purchasing power.

โ€œIt is possible to produce goods at low cost in Bangladesh and export them to other countries easily,โ€ said Tipu, adding that Bangladesh has a lot of skilled manpower.

Currently, India and China are two major neighbouring markets, he said.

Bangladesh is moving forward in all sectors under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he added.

The government has adopted necessary and timely national logistics policy to increase trade and is working for the sustainable development of industrial mills, communication systems and trade facilities, the minister added.

โ€œWe need investment in the infrastructure sector. Work is underway across the country to modernise the communication system.โ€
