Bogura: Durga Puja, the largest religious festival for the Hindu community, is set to take place in 686 mondops in Bogura this year, with authorities implementing tight security measures to ensure safety.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Bogura District Police have arranged special security measures for 104 vulnerable puja mondops. The Bogura District Police Media Spokesperson, Additional SP Atwar Rahman, stated that a significant number of police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and Ansar personnel would be on duty during the festival. Additionally, the army will conduct patrols, and CCTV cameras will be installed in every mondop to enhance security.
Moreover, each Puja committee will have its own volunteer team working around the clock to oversee security in every mondop. This year, the number of mandaps has increased from 677 to 686, as reported by organizers. These puja mondops have been categorized into three groups: very important, important, and general, with special security measures in place for those classified as ‘very important.’
The law enforcement agencies have been instructed to ensure comprehensive security at all puja mandaps and idol immersion sites. Bogura Municipal Puja Celebration Council President, Parimal Prasad Raj, mentioned that 72 mandaps will host Durga Puja within the municipal area. Preparations are nearing completion, and decorations of the mondops are currently underway. He expressed hope that this year’s Durga Puja would be celebrated peacefully with the cooperation of all involved.
