Sharjah: The Bangladesh national cricket team kicked off their practice session at Sharjah Cricket Stadium today, gearing up for the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan. The Bangladesh team reached the United Arab Emirates in two separate groups, with the last group arriving on Sunday.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, two players, pacer Nahid Rana, who was called up in the ODI squad for the first time, and Nasum Ahmed, who made a comeback to the team after a year hiatus, couldn’t leave the country with the last group due to visa complications. They have yet to obtain the visa, a BCB official informed.

The first match of the series is scheduled to begin on November 6, with the last two ODIs on November 9 and 11. All of the matches of the series will be held at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. While Afghanistan has recently become a strong contender for the Tigers, Bangladesh still holds the edge, having won 10 and lost six in 16 meetings between the two teams in the ODI format.

With this series, Ban
gladesh will also start their preparation for the next year’s ICC Champions Trophy, which will be held in Pakistan. After this series, Bangladesh will visit the West Indies for a full bilateral series that includes all three formats of cricket.

The squad for the series includes Soumya Sarkar, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Zakir Hasan, Nazmul Hossain Shanto (Captain), Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Touhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali Anik, Mehidy Hassan Miraz (Vice Captain), Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, and Nahid Rana.
