Feni: A Feni tribunal on Thursday sentenced three individuals to death for the abduction and murder of a schoolboy in 2024. Feni Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge ANM Morshed Khan delivered the verdict.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the condemned convicts are Ashraf Hossain Tushar, Mobarak Hossain Wasim, and Omar Faruk Ripat, each aged 20. The tribunal also imposed a fine of Tk one lakh on each convict, with a stipulation of an additional six months in jail if the fine is not paid.

The prosecution detailed the case involving Ahnaf Al Main Nashit, a 10-year-old class IV student and son of Main Uddin Shohagh. Nashit was abducted by the convicts from Feni district town on December 8, 2024. Following the abduction, a general diary was filed with Feni Model Police Station on December 9, 2024.

The convicts demanded a ransom of Tk 12 lakh from Nashit’s father via phone. When their demands were not met, they strangled Nashit and disposed of his body in a water body. Police investigations led to the arrest of Tushar based on suspicions. His interrogation subsequently led to the recovery of Nashit’s body in the Dewanganj area of the district town.
