Chattogram:Three police officers from Satkania Police Station in Chattogram have been removed from their duties and reassigned to the police lines following allegations of their involvement in stealing 30,000 yaba pills from a mini-truck in Lohagara upazila.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the officers facing punitive action are Sub-Inspector SM Mahbubul Islam and constables Foyez Ahmed and Gazi Md Mohsin. Superintendent of Chattogram Police Masud Alam announced the disciplinary measures on Thursday.

An office order, signed by the superintendent on Wednesday, directed the withdrawal of the three officers. This directive followed a preliminary inquiry that suggested credible evidence supporting the allegations against them, though the investigation is still ongoing.

The incident allegedly occurred when a mini-truck transporting 30,000 yaba pills from Chakaria in Cox's Bazar to Chattogram was intercepted by several police members on motorcycles. The vehicle was stopped on a deserted road in Putibila Union of Lohagara upazila and later taken to Keranihat in Satkania. Instead of seizing the illegal drugs, the police officers allegedly stole the yaba pills from the driver's seat, with assistance from two purported police informants, Robin and Momin.

The police stated that further actions against those implicated would be considered following the completion of the investigation.
