Panchagarh: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested three prime accused killers in the sensational Javed Umar Joy murder case of Panchagarh from the Boro Math area under Kotwali police station of Dinajpur on Thursday night. The arrested individuals are Md Noor Rabbi, 26, Md Abu Taleb, 25, both residents of Notunbasti Rajnagar, and Md Kamal Hossain, 40, of Notunbasti Khalpara under Sadar upazila of Panchagarh, as stated in a press release this afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the case statement revealed that Javed Umar Joy and his friends had protested against the drug dealing and extortion activities conducted by the accused in the area. In retaliation, the accused allegedly lured Javed to the Cinema Hall Market in Panchagarh district town on the evening of August 6, 2025, with malicious intent. There, they reportedly attacked Javed with sharp knives, inflicting serious injuries.
Local residents transported the severely injured Javed to the Panchagarh Modernised Sadar Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for further treatment. Tragically, Javed succumbed to his injuries while en route to the hospital that same night.
Following Javed's death, his elder brother filed a murder case with the Panchagarh Sadar Police Station on August 8, 2025. Acting on a tip-off, a joint team from RAB-13's Crime Prevention Company (CPC)-2 in Nilphamari and CPC-2 in Dinajpur conducted a raid in the Boro Math area. The operation, conducted at 9.30 pm on Thursday, led to the arrest of the three accused individuals. They were subsequently handed over to Panchagarh Sadar Police Station for further legal proceedings, the release noted.
