Three Officials of Aramit PLC Taken on Five Days Remand

Dhaka: The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has taken three officials of Aramit PLC on a five-day remand for interrogation in connection with a corruption case, officials sources said here today. The officials of the company are Md Abdul Aziz, Mohammad Jahangir Alam, and Utpal Paul.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Deputy Director of the Public Relations Department Md Akhtarul Islam stated that Deputy Assistant Director of the ACC, Dhaka integrated office-1 Md Sajib Ahmed, brought the officials to the ACC headquarters from Keraniganj Central Jail for interrogation. They were taken on a five-day remand from the Senior Special Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court of Dhaka on October 23.



ACC sources revealed that the officials were closely associated with former land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury. They allegedly assisted him in laundering money abroad and purchasing properties there. Furthermore, they are accused of helping the former minister embezzle substantial sums of money by securing loans from various banks, including United Commercial Bank, using false and fabricated deeds and documents.



The ACC aims to gather detailed information about the laundered funds and the individuals involved by interrogating the officials.
