Three More Suspected Measles Deaths Recorded in Bangladesh

Dhaka: Three more children have died from measles-like symptoms in Bangladesh within a 24-hour period, as reported until 8:00 am on Tuesday. This development has increased the total number of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths in the country to 631.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has classified these latest fatalities as suspected measles deaths. This classification brings the number of suspected measles deaths to 539, while the total number of laboratory-confirmed measles deaths remains at 92.

In the same 24-hour period, 980 new suspected measles cases were reported, raising the cumulative number of suspected cases across Bangladesh to 81,084. Additionally, 54 new confirmed measles cases were recorded, increasing the total number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 9,833.

Since March 15, hospitals across Bangladesh have admitted a total of 66,170 patients with suspected measles. Of these, 62,292 patients have recovered, according to
data provided by the DGHS.
