Dhaka: Three more children have died exhibiting symptoms of measles in the country within the last 24 hours, raising the total number of measles-related deaths to 918, as reported by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, no deaths have been recorded from confirmed measles in the past 24 hours; however, the three latest fatalities were due to suspected measles. Since March 15, there have been 99 confirmed measles-related deaths alongside 819 deaths from suspected measles.
In the same 24-hour period, health officials detected 59 new confirmed measles cases. Additionally, 1,002 new suspected measles cases were identified, highlighting the ongoing challenge in managing the outbreak.
DGHS data reveals that since March 15, a total of 144,780 suspected measles cases have been reported. During this period, authorities have confirmed 17,989 measles cases, underscoring the need for continued vigilance and healthcare measures to combat the spread of this disease.
