Dhaka: A three-member delegation from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) is set to visit the Bangladesh Taekwondo Federation (BTF) tomorrow. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the delegation comprises MS Eunhae Go, program manager at KOICA Bangladesh office, Md Fazle Rabby, program manager, and Meem Nur Hosain Turzo, program officer. KOICA, established by the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1991, is a government development cooperation organization dedicated to providing assistance in various fields, including sports, to developing countries worldwide.
In Bangladesh, KOICA has contributed to several areas, including sports. Notably, in 2002, Mr. Lee Ju Sang was appointed as the first foreign Taekwondo coach of BTF through KOICA’s support. During the same year, they introduced advanced training programs at BTF, furth
er extending their cooperation by organizing training programs in Rajshahi every two years for six years, facilitated by Korean coaches. Additionally, KOICA provided a project worth USD 50,000 to 60,000 to Rajshahi University.
The BTF anticipates that this collaboration will elevate the standard of Taekwondo in Bangladesh and enhance the federation’s stature.
