Three Killed in Panchagarh as Truck Collides with Easybike

Panchagarh: Three people were killed and at least four others injured when a truck collided with an Easybike on the Debiganj-Boda highway at Debiganj upazila in the district this afternoon.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the victims were traveling in an Easybike after visiting relatives of a deceased person in Chilahati Union when the vehicle was struck by a speeding truck in the Pakuritala area. The deceased have been identified as Shyamoli Rani, 30, of Nayadighi village in Sakua Union of Boda upazila; Bharosa Rani, 35, of Jotbuvuhunpara village in Pamuli Union of Debiganj upazila; and a child named Debosri Rani, 7, from the same upazila.



The injured individuals include Ajay Kumar Roy, 60, of Lakkhir Hat in Debiganj; Khoka Babu, 50; Bimola, 50; and Sourab, 28, of Rajar hat Kaliganj in Dandapal Union of the district. Local residents transported the injured to the Debiganj Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared Shyamoli Rani dead upon arrival.



Due to the severity of their injuries, the remaining victims were transferred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Bharosa Rani and Debosri Rani succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment.



Inspector (Investigation) Prabir Kumar Roy of Debiganj Police Station confirmed that police and army personnel were deployed to the scene shortly after the accident. The driver of the truck fled the scene, and police have filed an Unnatural Death (UD) case. “No formal complaint has been received from the victims’ families yet,” Inspector Roy added.
