Jamalpur: At least three people were killed and five others injured in a road accident in the Dikpait area in Sadar upazila of the district this afternoon. The deceased were identified as Rashed, 30, Arifa Khatun, 28, and M Chan Miah, 65.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred when a covered van collided head-on with a battery-run easy bike. The collision resulted in the immediate death of easy bike passenger Rashed, while seven others sustained injuries. Officer-in-Charge of Jamalpur Sadar Police Station, Najmus Sakib, reported the incident.
Arifa Khatun succumbed to her injuries while being transported to the hospital. The remaining six injured individuals were admitted to Jamalpur General Hospital, where Chan Miah later died due to his injuries. Subsequently, three of the injured were transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
