Satkhira:Three individuals, including a woman, lost their lives in separate incidents involving road accidents and a lightning strike in the Satkhira district on Saturday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the victims were identified as Mehedi Hasan Sobuj, 28, Rakibul Hasan, 19, and Rubina Khatun, 25. Mehedi Hasan Sobuj was from Ashashuni village, Rakibul Hasan from Bala Danga village in Satkhira Sadar, and Rubina Khatun from Kachua village in Assasuni upazila.
Rakibul Hasan suffered critical injuries when his motorcycle collided with a rickshaw-van at Chhaygharia intersection on the Satkhira-Jashore highway in Sadar upazila around 7:30 p.m. He was taken to Satkhira Medical College Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor. The incident was confirmed by Officer-in-Charge of Satkhira Sadar Police Station Md Mahmudur Rahman.
In another accident that occurred around 8 p.m., a covered van ran over a motorcycle on the Patkelghata overpass along the Khulna-Satkhira highway. Mehedi Hasan Sobuj, who was riding the motorcycle and worked as a representative for ACME Laboratories in the Dumuria area, died instantly. The incident was confirmed by Officer-in-Charge of Patkelghata Police Station Md Shafiqul Islam.
Additionally, Rubina Khatun was struck by lightning while cutting grass near her home at approximately 2 p.m., resulting in her immediate death. Officer-in-Charge of Assasuni Police Station Md Jahangir Arif confirmed the incident.
