Dhaka:Police have detained three individuals in connection with the vandalism at the studio of content creator and YouTuber Salman Muqtadir, located in the capital's ECB Chattar area. Authorities clarified that the studio was not the intended target of the attack, and there was no extortion involved.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Assistant Commissioner Nazmul Alam of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Cantonment Zone stated that the incident stemmed from a land dispute between New Gini Properties Ltd and the owner of a nearby plot. He emphasized that the situation had been misrepresented in the media.
Nazmul Alam explained that the individuals involved in the land dispute were unable to access their property and attempted to enter through a gate that led to the area where Salman Muqtadir's studio was situated. Unaware it was his studio, they vandalized the premises during their attempt to gain entry.
Police recovered local weapons from those detained. The attack on Saturday night resulted in significant damage to Brownfish Studio, including broken cameras, furniture, recording equipment, and other facilities. Muqtadir's YouTube Silver and Gold Play Buttons were also reportedly damaged.
Speaking at the scene, Salman Muqtadir asserted that while he was not the primary target, the incident caused significant damage to his creative work. He highlighted the investments in equipment and production at the studio, which regularly hosts shoots for various clients, expressing that the impact on his creative pursuits was more distressing than the financial loss.
