Dhaka: Health officials today said they recorded 833 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts, killing at least three persons in the past 24 hours. "We recorded deaths of three dengue patients in 24 hours ending at 8 am today," a spokesman of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said adding his office simultaneously recorded 833 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts during the same period.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DGHS statistics showed one death occurred in areas within the purview of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), another in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), and the third in Rajshahi division. The data revealed that among the 833 fresh cases, 113 patients were hospitalized in Barishal division, 119 in Chattogram division, 158 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 116 in DSCC, and 167 in DNCC areas. Additionally, 77 cases were reported in Mymensingh division, 65 in Rajshahi division, 12 in Rangpur division, and six in Sylhet division.
Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh has witnessed 326 deaths, with the disease affecting 82,606 individuals so far this year. Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 101,214 people across the country.
